No Words

Here is my addition to Marinas moly, I have chosen the track 'No words' , like Wil I have not listened to much Jazz, and hated this cd on first listening....then I put it on in the car, drove around listening to it and now I think it is wonderful ! Thank you so much for the introduction !
I hope the entry I have made doesn't come over as too dark, but it is how the track affected me :-)

  3. Take your time. I have plenty to do for a while.

I know that I am going to enjoy working in this book, following your lovely lyrical artwork. I am looking forward to savor Avishai's music, also.

  7. I have this book now. Not sure what to do yet. Avishai reminds me of Chic Corea, "Return to Forever", from the late 70's. If it sounds like I know something about Jazz, I don't. I just know that album. Avishai is more eclectic, and acoustic, an Israeli trait I think. I don't ever listen for bass, so this is a fun excercise. Upon first listen, I like "No Words" a lot, too.

I was at a concert by Yasmine Levy recently. Mirina must know her. I couldn't take my eyes and ears off her bass player. He is cool looking under the lights with those heavy shadows and those big bass playing hands. Like a Ben Shaun painting. I know what I will do in this book. I should "lay down the bass" while I'm feeling it.

  9. Hey, Marty, looks like you do know something about jazz! Avishai was used to play together with Chic Corea and got a lot influence from him. And I love Yasmine Levy! Can't wait to see what "laying down the bass" will do to you ;-)
